Bisphenol A is a white needle crystal or flake powder. Microodor of phenol. Soluble in ethanol, acetone, ether, benzene and dilute lye, slightly soluble in carbon tetrachloride, almost insoluble in water.
Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical produced in large quantities for use primarily in the production of polycarbonate plastics. It is found in various products including shatterproof windows, eyewear, water bottles, and epoxy resins that coat some metal food cans, bottle tops, and water supply pipes.
Application field：
1.Polycarbonates
About 65–70% of all bisphenol A is used to make polycarbonate plastics，which can consist of nearly 90% BPA by mass.
2.Epoxy and vinyl ester resins
About 25–30% of all BPA is used in the manufacture of epoxy resins and vinyl ester resins，common use in dental composites and sealants.
3.The remaining 5% of BPA is used in a wide range of applications, many of which involve plastic.
4.BPA is a main component of several high-performance plastics, the production of these is low compared to other plastics but still equals several thousand tons a year.
