2-phenoxyethanol
Phenoxyethanol (Phenoxyethanol) is a traditional preservative. It is a colorless and slightly sticky oily liquid with a slight aroma and spicy taste. It is slightly soluble in water but almost insoluble in mineral oil. Phenoxyethanol has a very significant killing effect on Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Pseudomonas aeruginosa), and has an inhibitory effect on both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Its mechanism is to increase the passing rate of potassium ions on the cell membrane and reduce the activity of enzymes, so as to inhibit cell growth and achieve antibacterial effect. When only phenoxyethanol is used as a preservative, the anti-corrosion effect is not good at low concentration, and the high concentration may cause skin burning and stinging, so it needs to be combined with other anti-corrosion ingredients.
